IP*Works! S/MIME Edition implements the S/MIME V2 standard for encryption and decryption using Public Key Cryptography Standards (PKCS). Encrypt files, e-mails and newsgroup postings and sign and verify message signatures using X.509 digital certificates. It includes a generic S/MIME component (SMIME), Certificate Management (CertMgr) and S/MIME enabled versions of the standard IP!Works* POP3, IMAP4, NNTP and SMTP components.

IP*Works! S/MIME ActiveX Edition provides ActiveX Controls optimised for the Internet that are small, fast and without dependencies on external libraries. It supports up to 128-bit (strong) encryption and Digital Signatures for e-mail and Document security. It comprises the following components:
