CA ARCserve Backup goes beyond backup, giving you highly reliable data protection with centralised management, data deduplication and cloud storage in a complete package.
CA ARCserve Backup is a comprehensive, distributed storage management solution for distributed and multiplatform environments. The application can back up and restore data from all the machines on your network, (including machines running Windows, UNIX, and Linux) using optional client agents. CA ARCserve Backup also provides media and device management utilities.CA ARCserve Backup offers control from one management console. It can support small-scale and large-scale enterprise environments comprising of one machine or many, across different platforms and organisations.

ARCserve Backup – System Requirements
System Requirements:
- CPU: 600 MHz Pentium III-compatible or faster processor; 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor recommended.
- RAM: 512 MB, 1 GB or more recommended.
- Disk Space:
- Primary Server: 800 MB, plus 1.3 GB for Agent Deployment Packages.
- Member Server: 450 MB, plus 1.3 GB for Agent Deployment Packages.
- .NET Components: .NET 2.0 SP2, .NET 3.0 SP1 and .NET 3.5SP1 up to 500 MB of available disk space may be required.
- To perform backup jobs for Transportable Shadow Copies using the Microsoft Exchange Server writer, you must have Microsoft Exchange Server installed on your CA ARCserve Backup server. Backups of this type will fail if the Microsoft Exchange Server is not installed on the CA ARCserve Backup server.
Microsoft .NET Framework: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 on Windows Server 2003, and Windows Server 2008 systems.
CA ARCserve Backup Database: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Edition with Service Pack 1, Service Pack 2.
Note: To install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Edition on Windows Server 2003 systems, SP2 is required. Otherwise, you must install a supported version of Microsoft SQL Server to host the CA ARCserve Backup database.
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Enterprise/Standard Edition with Service Pack 1, Service Pack 2.
- Microsoft SQL Server 2000 with Service Pack 4.
- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 with Service Pack 1, Service Pack 2, Service Pack 3, or Service Pack 4.
Note: In addition to these requirements, you should consider the disk space necessary for the default CA ARCserve Backup database. Depending upon usage, the database can grow to several GB in size. - Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2
