Polar Knowledgebase - Features

Polar Knowledge Base is a software solution for online self-help customer support.

Features include:

  • Web Based Software: create and maintain a knowledge base using a web browser
  • Multi-user System: supports five basic user types with different access levels. The administrator is on the highest level and assigns limited or full access to other Knowledge Base users
  • Article Approval Process: the article status feature enables the workflow approval process in relation with the multi-user system. Employees who have been assigned the Author user type may submit articles that are reviewed by a person with Editor and Legal approval authority for further approval or declining by a Manager or an Administrator. Only approved articles are published to the knowledge base table of contents and made available to customers
  • Rating and Suggestion System: customers can rate any article and to post suggestions or comments. Suggestions and rating reports are available from the Administration centre
  • Customise Preferences:
    • modify fonts and colours and main page preferences
    • set permission to accept only certain attachment types or sizes
    • copy or back up the databases
    • keep login statistics
    • change e-mail preferences.
  • Document Attachments: attach any document including PDF, Visio Diagrams, Real Media Files, Windows Media files and ZIP files. Limit the attachment use by setting the permission to accept certain attachment types
  • Multi-file Import Formats: any SQL or ODBC compatible database
  • Change Database Type: choose between MS Access and MS SQL Server
  • Unlimited Scalability: the depth of topics and sub-topics is not limited if it is within the number of licensed articles (5000, 10000 or unlimited)
  • Search: Basic Quick Search is performed through all the fields in a database and enables automatic "And" queries. Advanced Search confines the search to the specific field (title, full text or article ID) and with the reference to the time of last update. A Top Searches list is available at the Knowledge Base home page
  • Related Articles: assign one or more related articles to each article
  • Most Viewed and Most Recent Articles: top lists are valuable for visitors for quick access to articles.
