Manage Anywhere Studio - Features

Manage Anywhere Studio enables the distribution, installation and management of software, data and files on remote systems from a single management console. It can be customised to integrate with an existing infrastructure and includes automated central software distribution, inventory and asset management, secure application and system configuration, live support remote control, operating system migration managementand optimisation for mobile, remote and embedded devices.

Features include:

  • Automated Central Software Distribution: distribute, install and manage software, data and files on desktops, laptops and mobile devices. The administrator can manage targeted machines and stage and archive tasks to distribute software, updates and upgrades. A scripting language is available for managing more complex or customised distribution of tasks
  • Technology: including smart package delivery and opportunistic bandwidth utilisation. Once delivered to the target device, a smart image or task package can deploy itself without the need for a network session. Manage Anywhere Studio detects the bandwidth usage of the network interface before and during a package download, reducing bandwidth usage and remaining transparent to the user
  • Inventory and Asset Management: track all deployed devices and gather all the information necessary for IT to track, troubleshoot and make key resource decisions from a central location. For example, the administrator can ensure that the company is in compliance with the number of seat licenses purchased for any given software application
  • Hardware Inventory: a comprehensive set of hardware inventory data gathered from all PCs, laptops and mobile devices. This information is updated on a regular basis and when important criteria is changed by the client. The machine name and IP address are updated with the correct information as soon as the change is identified. providing a complete and accurate inventory of every station and its real-time identification data
  • Dynamic Groups and Queries: a powerful query feature allows an administrator to establish a set of rules matched against all inventoried records that can be applied directly to a new dynamic group. The group becomes dynamic because any PC or device that falls into that criteria set will appear in the dynamic group display even if the machine was added at a later time
  • Software Inventory: a comprehensive inventory of software on all Manage Anywhere Studio client agent PCs. Software inventory can be taken in a number of ways including scanning for registered software on each devices system registry, scanning for executable or .EXE files on a device hard drive or customising individual software scan packages with custom parameters. An inventory feature shows the total set of clients and PCs for every software application that does not have that package installed
  • Secure Application and System Configuration: enforce application and system configuration settings to comply with corporate security standards or schedule and release new operating system and anti-virus updates on a priority basis. The agent can be instructed to re-check a configuration at regular intervals and make corrections if needed or communicate problems to the administrator by restoring files that have been changed. It does not require that the user be connected to self-heal applications or configurations and can launch applications remotely (such as anti-virus software) and perform software inventories to search for unauthorised applications that may compromise security. User errors, accidental deletions, non-standard additions or other configuration changes can be identified and corrected without direct user or IT involvement
  • Application Self-healing Technology: using imaging and state management. An image of the correct application configuration profile and settings is created and sent to the smart agent to be compared with its current configuration profile. The agent notes which files, registry keys and options are needed in order to match the correct profile and requests that only those files be delivered to conserve bandwidth
  • Live Support Remote Control: allows control of a users machine to diagnose and solve a users problem including in remote locations. A remote session can be initiated from the internal console or web console allowing administrators to support systems regardless of connection type or location. Security is engaged fully during Live Support by establishing randomly generated and encrypted passwords for each system or by defining passwords manually for secure access to unattended clients. A remote agent is not loaded onto the device until a Live Support session begins, eliminating a potential access point for intruders
  • Handheld Device Support: works in the current corporate LAN environment. Software, data and file distribution intended for handheld devices can be accomplished using a smart micro agent technology or through a zero footprint configuration using a PC and device cradle. Micro agents running directly on the device provide native management support and direct access including wireless connectivity management. The administrator can use the zero footprint configuration to set up the smart agent on the PC to detect if a Palm OS, Pocket PC/Windows CE or RIM device is connected to any of the targeted PCs. Other devices can be managed through the server as a unique group once identified
  • Optimised for Mobile, Remote and Embedded Devices:
    • Manages a wide range of devices
    • Provides flexible, automatic connection support
    • Suspends and resumes delivery of packages to minimise bandwidth use
    • Installs packages without network connection.
  • Security:
    • Operating system and anti-virus updates on a priority basis
    • Configuration self-healing
    • Destroy data on lost or stolen devices remotely
    • Policy-based security by user or group of users
    • Comprehensive security auditing
    • Fully customisable control of access to console
    • Controllable through web or LAN console
    • NT authentication
    • Secure Socket Layer (SSL) communication.
