PVCS Version Manager is deeply integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and Eclipse IDEs, and supports pragmatic locking for parallel development. As part of the PVCS Professional Suite for software change and configuration management (SCCM), PVCS Version Manager integrates with Serena TeamTrack for sophisticated issue and workflow management and with Serena Builder for automated build management.

NEW Features in version 8 include:

• LDAP Support: simplified configuration process to support multiple redundant LDAP servers or referrals with easy setup and configuration directly supported through the project configuration dialogue.
• File Server-Based Protections: to avoid accidental or unauthorised modification or deletion of assets. Physically isolate project data from the end user by removing the need for end user file level access to the archives and meta-data. The client/server architecture and service manages the archive updates; it is the service not the individual user that requires the write access
• Web Client Enhancements: improved parity between the Web and the desktop clients. The Web client includes:
  • Merant Merge tool for differencing and merging of files and revisions
  • Sort by a particular column of data in the Content pane such as Locked By or Date Checked In
  • List files recursively in the Content pane
  • Browse dialogue for selecting revisions, version labels and promotion groups to simplify completion of dialogue boxes
  • Launch a file for viewing or editing by clicking upon it in the Content pane.
