Relational database management system providing a full range of tools that encompass all areas of data processing and storage. Editions are built using a common code base, enabling database applications to scale without the need to change code.
Oracle Database is a relational database management system providing a full range of tools that encompass all areas of data processing and storage. This product provides the foundation for IT to successfully deliver more information with higher quality of service, reduce the risk of change within IT and make more efficient use of their IT budgets.
By deploying Oracle Database their data management foundation, organisations can utilise the database to: reduce server costs, reduce storage requirements, improve mission critical systems performance, increase DBA productivity, eliminate idle redundancy in the data centre, simplify their overall IT software portfolio, cluster and consolidate enterprise application databases onto fast, reliable and scalable private clouds, accelerate performance by compressing data onto low-cost storage partitions, cecurely protect information and enable compliance.
Oracle Database is available in the following editions:
- Express Edition
Is an entry-level, small-footprint database based on the Oracle Database 11g Release 2 code base. It is free to develop, deploy and distribute; fast to download; and simple to administer.
- Standard Edition
Is a full-featured database for servers with up to four sockets. It includes Oracle Real Application Clusters for higher availability, provides enterprise-class performance and security, is simple to manage and can easily scale as demand increases.
- Standard Edition One
Is a full-featured database for servers with up to two sockets. It provides enterprise-class performance and security, is simple to manage and can easily scale as demand increases.
- Enterprise Edition
Delivers scalability, security and reliability on a choice of clustered or single-servers running Windows, Linux and UNIX. It provides comprehensive features to easily manage the most demanding transaction processing, business intelligence and content management applications.
All editions are built using the same common code base, which means users database applications can easily scale from small, single-processor servers to clusters of multi-processor servers without changing a line of code.
