Laptop Cop protects organisations from the impacts of laptop theft by making the contents on lost or stolen laptops accessible to the laptop owner but not to the thief.

Identify, track and control who accesses data on a stolen laptop, what data is accessed and what can and cannot be done with that data. The single agent can be installed at the time of laptop purchase or anytime after and deploys and operates invisibly. When a laptop is lost or stolen, the agent can be activated instantaneously by the rightful owner using any web browser, enabling the content to be viewed and managed remotely in real time without alerting the thief.

Files can be retrieved and stored centrally, downloaded to another computer or deleted. Data is deleted to the US governments 5220.22-M standard that provides multiple overwrites, random characters and write verification. Laptop Cop returns a confirmation that files have been deleted successfully.

Real-time geo-location is provided based on wi-fi hotspot tracking to assist in the recovery of a lost or stolen laptop. It is quicker and more effective than trying to track it using the IP address and can pin-point the location to within sixty feet including inside a building where point of site to a satellite is not possible.
