The devtools specialist is enhancing its popular integrated development environments (IDEs), boosting v2024.2 full-line code completion and remote development capabilities.

Full line code completion (FLCC) now offers:
• Code highlighting.
• New shortcuts for accepting individual words and lines, taken from longer suggestions.
• A refined process for integrating changes, eliminating formatting issues.
Other UX changes in 2024.2 include:
• A new Preview option for the codebase elements in the Search Everywhere dialog.
• Auto-detection of system proxy settings, enabled by default.
• A new layout of the Customize Main Toolbar dialog.
• For Linux users, window control settings that align automatically with your desktop configuration.
• Redesigned window control buttons for Linux users.
• Language-aware sticky lines via Settings/Preferences/Editor/General or in the context menu.

• Easier debugging and browsing of complex data formats, leveraging string variable visualisers for JSON, XML, HTML, JWT, and URL via the variable View link.
• VCS improvements, including a diff view associated with the Local History dialog with directory access, and availability of Local History actions for multiple files or directories at the same time.
• Consolidated Log tool window settings via Settings/Preferences/Version Control.
• Git log opening as an editor tab, with new layout and colours for Log tab branch lines.
• Remote development settings automatically synced with local IDE installs via the JetBrains Client.
• Reverse port forwarding for remote development.
• Screen sharing in Code With Me now redirects to a browser, adding a way to choose specific windows to be shared.
• Run and debug TypeScript files without further setup in any JetBrains IDE with web development features.
• Improved support across major web frameworks such as Next.js, Nuxt, SvelteKit, and Astro.
• Increased language support, adding Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. Select via Settings/Preferences/Appearance & Behavior/System Settings.
