Enables content to be written in or imported into Microsoft Word, HTML or the Doc-To-Help editor and published for desktop, web and print use. It is available in Enterprise and Microsoft Word Editions and an Enterprise DemoWorks Bundle.

Use Doc-To-Help along with Microsoft Word to produce Online Help, Web, mobile, eBook or print-based deliverables. Used by content developers, technical writers, HR managers, medical writers and subject matter experts, Doc-To-Help is ideal for users who want to create and manage content in a familiar chapter-based Word environment.

Doc-To-Help is used by technical communicators, policy writers, customer support, trainers and other content creators to create software documentation, online Help, product manuals, policy guides that can be published to multiple formats, including responsive web, PDF, ePub and more.
Create content in Word (or use existing Word files), manage and collaborate with other writers and publish to any number of formats, letting Doc-To-Help do all of the work.

Key Features:

  • Write or Import Your Content: Use Doc-to-Help's editor or Microsoft Word. You only need to author a single set of content and Doc-To-Help will automatically publish many types of output. Write in Doc-to-Help's content editor or Microsoft Word. You can also import documents you already have.
  • Choose From a List of Outputs: Use one of nine types of outputs out-of-the-box or create your own versions.
  • Publish Content Where Your Readers Need It: Each output is professionally designed and is formatted for its platform.
  • Write Once, Publish Anywhere: Conditional tagging features allows you to customize the content for each of the target platforms (e.g. online Help and printed manual) or create multiple versions of one type of output (e.g. Enterprise and Standard editions of Online Help or teacher and student training manuals).
  • Publish eBooks, PDF and Press-ready Manuals: Give your readers manuals in the format they want by choosing to create them in EPUB or PDF. Doc-To-Helps EPUB output can display on virtually any reader (even Kindle after an easy conversion to Kindles mobi file format) while PDFs can be sent straight to press or made available on the Web. Both formats are professionally polished.
  • Import: Don't waste time with copy and paste. Doc-To-Help will import the Word-based manuals you already have and typically be ready to produce any of its outputs in minutes.
  • Convert: You can also convert RoboHelp projects, HTML files, HTML Help projects and WinHelp projects.

System Requirements

  • An Internet Connection is required to download certain components of the Requirements (.NET Framework).
  • PC with Intel Pentium II 500 MHz or greater processor
  • 512 MB of RAM Minimum
  • 200 MB of hard disk space for the Doc-To-Help application and related files
  • Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Vista Service Pack 2, Windows 10
  • Microsoft Word 2010, Microsoft Word 2013 or Microsoft Word 2016
  • Microsoft .NET Framework version 4.5.1 or later
    • The Doc-To-Help installation will check for the presence of the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1. If not found, it will be installed automatically.
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 or greater (for use by the Theme Designer), Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Safari
  • Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime
    • The Doc-To-Help installation will check for the presence of the Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime. If not found, it will be installed automatically.

If using Doc-To-Help's SharePoint integration, Doc-To-Help collaboration features are compatible with Microsoft SharePoint 2007, 2010 and 2013, as well as Office 365 (SharePoint Online). SharePoint 2010 or 2013 is required when publishing Doc-To-Help Targets to a SharePoint Wiki Library. SharePoint 2010 is recommended when working with Translation Libraries (SharePoint 2013 does not include this feature). Translation Libraries cannot be managed in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, because WSS 3.0 does not support them.

Supported operating systems for Office 365:
Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2, Windows Vista Service Pack 2.
If storing your Team Project in a Team Foundation Server repository, Doc-To-Help supports Microsoft Team Foundation Server 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2015.
Note: D2H does not support side-by-side installations by design.
MadCap products currently require Microsoft Windows. Several users have installed Windows on their Macs using programs that enable them to run Windows. The system requirements remain the same for the version of Windows running on a Mac.
