Those annoying or even malicious banner ads and pop-ups can be eliminated in two clicks with the Kaspersky Protection extension in Kaspersky Security Cloud.

The vendor explains how to use the Anti-Banner feature in this blog.

"Numerous programs claim to remove the eyesores from websites. But if you already have Kaspersky Security Cloud installed, you’re all set," Kaspersky says.

Users only have to enable the Kaspersky Protection extension, navigating to this feature via Kaspersky Security Cloud.

Its number-one aim is to protect computers from cyberattacks and scams online -- but it can also remove unwanted advertising, including banner ads and pop-ups.

Turning on the Anti-Banner feature is easy -- simply activate it via Kaspersky Security Cloud's setting panel. Alternatively, turn the green 'Enable' button on, directly in the browser, by clicking the Kaspersky Protection icon, as mentioned above.

Then refresh the page.

Select the filters for each language in which banner ads appear.

"Advertising networks know a lot about you, and they frequently show banners in your language, even on sites that aren’t. Our ad-blocker extension gets rid of such ads," says Kaspersky.

Prevent Internet Parasites

Removing adverts can also stop less ethical cryptocurrency miners from hijacking your resources using web and media platforms including YouTube.

Criminals sometimes embed hidden mining malware in 'normal' websites, for example. This can happen online anywhere JavaScript code can be embedded, notes Kaspersky.

JavaScripts can be disabled so they don't automatically activate on your computer.

Kaspersky also notes that individual banner ads can also be deleted by manually adding them to a blocked banners list. You can also remove social media widgets and all those windows that prompt you to subscribe to updates, via 'Thematic' filters.

And with Kaspersky Security Cloud, you can easily mix and match protective features to suit your needs.
