• Content Filtering
  GMS Version 12 employs content filtering technology to provide a true enterprise-class malware solution; integrated tightly with the Gordano Messaging Suite, GMS Anti-spam Update Service (ASUS) now utilizes cutting edge zero-hour protection. This contemporary approach to anti-spam redefines content filtering; using extensive, global analysis of spam proliferation patterns, very quick responses to new spam threats are achieved. These refinements mean that GMS ASUS now offers proactive spam detection in multiple languages and message formats, with very low false positive occurrences. Image based spam and phishing emails are also caught effectively with this new technology.

  Similarly, zero-hour protection has also been extended to GMS Anti-Virus, providing cover from the initial outbreak of viruses, and until standard virus pattern updates become available.

• Groupware
  As one of the first messaging vendors to offer a viable MS Exchange alternative, Gordano Ltd has seen continued growth in the groupware/collaboration sector of the messaging space. In keeping with a continual development policy, Gordano are pleased to announce that GMS Collaboration Server now offers substantial enhancements to groupware options in Outlook (2002/2003), whilst also contributing to improved workflow practices. Enhancements include:
  • Single folder navigation tree in Outlook (2002/2003) Offers a clear client experience and familiarization advantages for users migrating from Exchange.
  • PST data store This revision provides good interoperability with 3rd party devices (e.g. PDAs) and enhances client performance. PST usage also enables additional Outlook functionality such as categorization and allows the client store to be easily backed up if prolonged periods are spent without connection to the server.
  • Enhanced mailbox sharing Shared mailboxes can now be configured directly from Outlook using Access Control Lists (ACLs), enhancing the standard functionality. This addition makes Outlook, when integrated with the Gordano Collaboration client, the only email client currently available that is capable of both configuring and accessing shared IMAP mailboxes. Users wishing to share mail folders can do so by using the collaboration client in email only mode against Gordanos IMAP server. Should they wish to extend this sharing to calendars, contacts, tasks and notes then the full GMS Collaboration Server can be purchased.
  • Shared calendaring in Outlook (2002/2003) - The activation pathway (GUI route) for calendar sharing has been abbreviated; this means that the sharing of calendars has been simplified for individual users.
  • Improved IMAP responsiveness GMS Version 12 includes a native GMS IMAP client in Outlook to improve performance. This enhancement will also provide data caching to enable true offline working in Outlook (2002/2003).
  • Single point of configuration - One server and one username/password offers substantially improved configuration and administration.

  • EFM API implemented for GMS HTTP services The External Folder Manager API option from GMS allows a high degree of interoperability with third party database applications. For example: the EFM functionality allows the GMS WebMail client to front-end any non-proprietary data store. This flexibility offers substantial advantages to enterprise users not wishing to replace an incumbent mail system, but who wish to enhance their users webmail client experience
  • Support for Mozilla Firefox 1.5 for Linux This offers obvious benefits in terms of GMS WebMail and web-based administration access for Linux users.
  • W3C logging for POST, POP and IMAP, in addition to the existing W3C logging for HTTP based services.

GMS Anti-Spam

Anti Spam includes many server based Anti-Spam options that will offer a high level of security again unwanted mail. Filters such as IP Address Blocking, Message Quality, Block Lists, Black Lists, White Lists and HTTP Tag Scanning will stop a wide range of Spam. The GMS Anti-Spam Update Service teamed with GMS Anti-Spam, will give an "out of the box" option to start filtering Spam with automatic updates for the restricted word lists and Bayesian filters. The Package will update on a regular basis to keep up with the changes in Spam messages. Spam definitions are updated by our dedicated engineers from spam received into specially configured honey pot accounts.

If WebMail is running Anti-Spam will also offer Bayesian, Confirmation, Anti-Spam and White List Filters for the clients to configure to their own requirements. Scores can be attributed to messages at the server level but the actual filtering ofn the message can be left to the end user.

GMS Anti-Spam Update Service

The GMS Anti-Spam Update Service (ASUS) teamed with GMS Anti-Spam, will give an "out of the box" option to start filtering Spam with automatic updates for the restricted word lists and Bayesian filters. ASUS will update on a regular basis to keep up with the changes in Spam messages. Spam definitions are updated by our dedicated engineers from spam received into specially configured honey pot accounts. In addition to these traditional content filtering methods GMS Anti Spam Update Service also includes Commtouch's Recurrent Pattern Detection (RPD). RPD is based on the most fundamental characteristic of spam and email-born Malware - its mass distribution over the Internet. Recognized by key industry analysts as a leading technology in email outbreak detection, RPD achieves the industry's best detection/accuracy performance (Osterman Research) and "detects and blocks spam in the first few minutes of an outbreak"(IDC). An external data center is queried by an SDK to receive message classification in real-time. The result is instant protection from new outbreaks - far ahead of signatures or software updates. GMS Anti-Virus

GMS AV offers server based integrated Anti-Virus scanning on all incoming and outgoing emails, including content, headers and attachments. GMS Anti-Virus has automatic updates to ensure it is always scanning up to date viruses. It will check for signatures files every 15 minutes. If you use the Proxy server built in to GMS, AV will also scan web pages.

GMS Anti-Virus was one of the first AV solutions to include Heuristics and also includes disinfection to ensure end users still receive important and safe email.

GMS Archiver

GMS Archiver provides on/off-site archiving for all incoming/outgoing email traffic. Stored messages can be searched and retrieved via a number of parameters, including: title, attachment type, size etc. Email archiving has particular application for organisations that need to comply with regulatory obligations such as Sarbanes-Oxley

With the addition of Instant Messaging and Mobile it is possible to archive IM conversations and SMS Text messages.

GMS Collaboration Server

GMS Collaboration Server provides a fully functional cross-platform alternative to Microsoft Exchange. GMS Communication Server

GMS Communication Server is a fully featured CRM tool set, integrating into existing organisation databases via ODBC and provides 3 primary services: Newsletter distribution, Targeted Custom mail-outs and Discussion Lists. Offering excellent scalability, GMS Communication Server licensing can cater for multiple lists, with up to 1 million members per list. In addition, GMS Communication Server enables highly targeted, customised email postings to multiple recipient groups.

The package will allow users to post a very large volume of email to a large number of users in a short space of time. There are full reporting features which allows administrators to view emails that have been sent, links that have been clicked on within emails, number of failures (bounce management) etc.

GMS Instant Messager

GMS Instant Messenger builds on Gordanos integrative philosophy and offers excellent presence and contact options via either Windows or Java based clients. The new Windows GMS IM client can be either integrated directly into Microsoft Outlook or used as a stand alone IM client. SSL encryption is provided for all server traffic to guarantee the privacy of your communications. Both clients allow users to specify preferred contact methods when offline such as SMS, email or Pager, all of which can be initiated from the IM client itself. Transcripts of IM sessions (including cross-client) can be content checked, archived and retrieved in the same way as email and SMS messages to assist with regulatory compliance. Additionally a transcript of each IM conversation can be automatically emailed to the participants of that conversation to act as a record for their own use.

GMS WebMail Server

GMS WebMail is a flexible webmail client that offers a number of interface options, specific to bandwidth and access availability. GMS WebMail is fully featured and offers a familiar and intuitive interface similar to any highend POP client. Shared calendaring, folders, tasks and notes are available, with good interoperability with Outlook calendars, in conjunction with GMS Collaboration Server. WebMail is a stand alone solution, so although it is beneficial to include GMS Mail (POP/IMAP/SMTP), it is not necessarily needed if you only require Web Based email.

GMS WebMail is ideal for SME (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises), Enterprise and ISP solutions.

GMS Web Organizer is accessed via standard browsers (IE, Mozilla) and new user impact is minimized with familiar and intuitive client interface options.
