Novell ZENworks Application Virtualization is a standalone software tool for creating applications than run as standalone execution files, eliminating the need to install them on client devices. It provides a highly portable application that will run locally, on a USB stick or on the web.
Features include:
- Create a Single Executable File: package application files, settings, runtimes and other components into a single, compact executable that runs anywhere
- Reduce Vista UAC Prompts: eliminate the need to access privileged system resources and most Vista compatibility errors
- Application Expiry: configure applications to run for a set number of days or expire on a specific date
- Application Publishing on Portable Media: configure a virtual application to launch from a USB drive and register automatically with the host system
- Run Applications With Predictive Streaming: use the application profiler to build a streaming model that can anticipate user behaviour resulting in smooth application streaming
- Multiple Streaming Modes: run with "No Cache," "Cache Prefetch" or
"Register Local" modes and determine if and how to store streamed applications locally
- High Streaming User-to-Server Use: ratios as high as 10,000 users per server
- Common Network Protocols for Streaming: uses standard HTTP, SMB and CIFS protocols for streaming applications or any protocol that can be mounted to a Windows UNC path
- XREG Publishing: use a simple tool to register a virtual application with the host and configure file associations and shortcuts
- Component Configuration: add popular runtimes, components and viewers to virtual application executables including support for .NET, Java, Shockwave, Flash and SQL Server 2005 Express
- MSI Setup Package Generation: deploy virtual applications using MSI setup packages
- File System and Registry Virtualisation: protect the host operating system and registry by simulating them in virtual applications
- Service and Application Connections and Control: embed virtualised database and web services into virtual application executables, enable applications to communicate and gain fine-gained control over virtual
resource sharing between multiple applications
- 100% User Mode Implementation: simplify deployment and operation by eliminating device drivers and privileged operations
- Optional Application Compression: accelerate deployment and reduce bandwidth by compressing virtual application files
- Independent Patch Deployment: deploy patches for virtual applications independently of the application itself
- Support for Novell ZENworks AXT-based Applications and ZENworks Configuration Management: make virtual and physical applications part of the same unified lifecycle management solution.
