VMware vCloud Director enables secure private clouds to be built to increase datacentre efficiency and business agility. When coupled with VMware vSphere, it provides cloud computing for existing datacentres by pooling virtual infrastructure resources and delivering them to users as catalogue-based services. Users can deploy pre-configured or custom-built service and maintain security and control over multi-tenant environments using policy-based user controls and VMware vShield security technologies. Resources can be supplied to internal organisations as virtual datacentres to increase consolidation and simplify management. Existing investments and open standards can be employed to ensure inter-operability and application portability between clouds.
